We are staying in an AirBnB that has no laundry due to my mistake. It is impossible to travel for two weeks in Europe with carry-on luggage, a baby and no laundry. Oops. We were going to do laundry on Sunday but there were NO Laundromats open. It’s crazy.
As you can imagine, I had a plan for Monday morning. We seized the moment when Julian woke at 6am. We walked to the “Waschsalon” with Julian in the stroller and old-fashioned directions (because there was no cell service). But we were met by German-only instructions, a confusing computer, and directions that were written on paper.
It was a BLESSING that there was another desperate launderer in Bonn at 6:30am, as he taught us how to use the strangest Laundromat computer I’ve ever seen. We put the Landry into the washer, then went out to buy diapers, bananas, milk and bread, as any family would do on vacation. Then we returned to the Laundromat and put the laundry in the dryer. While I was watching, an elderly woman who appeared to be a regular at the Waschsalon removed her bra and shirt, and placed them in the washer. That’s it. We just rolled with the punches and had some breakfast.
The laundry is done, the groceries are bought, and 78 brand new diapers have been purchased! Let’s go… today was our day to visit Cologne.
Did you know Cologne is the favorite city of many Germans? It has a certain charm. Valentina also loves this city, so you will too if you are visiting it!
